Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE, has made a significant decision to rename the Abu Dhabi International Airport.
Effective February 9, 2024, the airport will be known as Zayed International Airport. This change aligns with the inauguration of the brand-new Terminal A.
Terminal A is poised to be a game-changer, with the capability to handle up to 70 aircraft at a time and accommodate over 40 million passengers annually. It marks a remarkable development in the region’s aviation infrastructure.
The renaming of the airport pays tribute to Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who served as the President of the United Arab Emirates since its formation in 1971 and as the Ruler of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi since 1966. This decision reflects his deep respect and reverence for his enduring legacy in the United Arab Emirates.
