FBR appoints focal person for scrutiny of nomination papers

ISLAMABAD: In connection with the preparations for the general elections in the country, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has appointed a focal person for the scrutiny of nomination papers.

According to the announcement issued by FBR, the focal person will assist the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in the scrutiny of the nomination papers of the candidates.

The Chief Revenue Operations Arshad Nawaz Cheena, Secretary of Revenue Budget Bilal Zameer, Second Secretaries of IR Sadaf Ehsan, Sohail Abbas, and Sec. Secretary IR Litigation Alishba Asif is also included in the 5-member focal person.

FBR has also directed all the Field Formation Heads to nominate a team consisting of two officers. All the nominated teams will be headed by a Commissioner who will act as focal persons in their areas.

ISLAMABAD: The National Institute of Health(NIH) has prepared an emergency guideline on the influenza virus.

The NIH has sounded a health alarm about seasonal influenza. The Ministry of Health has said that the NIH has prepared emergency guidelines for influenza, and the emergency guidelines will be sent to the federation and provinces.

In the letter, while directing the provincial health department to take preventive measures to prevent influenza, it has been said that new types of flu virus are being reported in the world every year, influenza cases are reported in Pakistan during winter, from December to February. Flu cases increase as temperatures drop, and hospitalization rates increase as influenza cases increase.

The NIH said that the deaths of children and the elderly are reported from influenza, and influenza that starts with mild symptoms can become severe, children, the elderly, pregnant women, including diabetics, heart disease patients, and obese people are more susceptible to seasonal influenza.

It is said in the letter that diabetes, heart disease patients, and fat people are easy victims of influenza, children from 6 months to 6 years are easily affected by seasonal influenza and people suffering from respiratory and chronic diseases are likely to have complications from influenza.

The health department and organizations should take advanced measures to control influenza, if timely measures are not taken, influenza can become an epidemic situation.

Be careful in contact with cold, fever, and sick people, do not touch your hands, mouth, or eyes after meeting sick people, and wash your hands with soap after meeting sick people, nose when sick people cough, sneeze, Cover your mouth because careful intercourse can prevent the spread of influenza.

PM directs Information Ministry to resolve issue of advertisement dues

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar assured the Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA) of payment of advertisement dues and directed the Information Ministry to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

He was talking to a PBA delegation, which called on him. During the meeting, matters relating to the media, especially electronic media, came under discussion.

The delegation informed the prime minister about the issue of outstanding dues on account of government advertisements.

Highlighting the importance of the media, the prime minister said that being the fourth pillar of state, the media was of utmost importance for the development of society, and the mental and intellectual training of people.

He said the protection of the rights of the media representatives was also responsibility of the state.

PM Kakar said that through effective and coordinated communication between the government and the media, the public could stay informed about government policies and initiatives.

He said the media played a key role in good governance and accountability of government performance. He expressed the hope that the media would continue to play its role in the stability of democracy through impartial reporting.

The prime minister urged the delegation to increase public awareness through the media about the importance of the economic stabilization strategy under the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).

He said that the recent decline in the value of the dollar, prevention of smuggling, prevention of electricity theft and other measures were benefiting the common man.

ISLAMABAD: The government has launched a helpline for scanning illegal foreigners and appealed to the people for their cooperation and asked them to file a complaint against any illegal person on the relevant helpline.

A helpline has been launched for the scanning of illegal foreigners. The citizens should cooperate with the government of Pakistan in identifying illegal foreigners.

In Pakistan, the deadline of October 31, 2023, was given to illegal persons to leave the country. The public is informed to file a complaint on the relevant helpline of any illegal person and help for guidance and problems faced by illegal residents. The citizen can contact on helpline  number 1700.

The staff posted in the control room is on duty round the clock for full guidance, information, and problem-solving.

On the other hand, special control rooms have been established for the repatriation of Afghan citizens in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Evacuation of foreigners residing illegally in Pakistan continues, from November 1. A crackdown was launched against illegal residents in KP and Balochistan.

NICVD and ChildLife sign MoU for cardiology care

KARACHI: National Institute of Cardiovascular Disease (NICVD) and ChildLife Foundation have signed an memorandum of understanding (MOU) to collaborate and develop a mechanism where children with cardiology issues will be consulted through telemedicine and referred to NICVD if required.

Dr. Abdul Sattar, Head of Pediatric Cardiac Services NICVD, and Dr. Ahson Rabbani, CEO of ChildLife Foundation, have signed the MoU.

It is to be noted that NICVD is the first tertiary cardiac care institute in South Asia as well as the flagship facility for cardiology in Pakistan with a focus on superior care for patients.

The ChildLife has introduced unique provider-to-provider consultation model of Telemedicine Satellite Centers (TSCs) to cater to the children’s emergency cases in 200 plus district and tehsil hospitals of the country.

“This collaboration is a testimony of the innovative Telemedicine services ChildLife team has developed and scaled. We are honored to partner with NICVD to share our telemedicine practices and experience to save lives with this virtual emergency care model throughout the country.

“The initiative of building a process for patient-referral with NICVD is really a moment of pride, as this will allow us to spread the cause of providing free-of-cost healthcare services throughout Pakistan,” said Dr. Ahson Rabbani.

Dr. Abdul Sattar of NICVD said that “This partnership covers sharing best practices on telemedicine, referral, and quality of care. NICVD provides quality healthcare absolutely free-of-cost to millions of deserving patients for patients with cardiovascular disease through its countrywide network of hospitals in Pakistan.
