PTI Chairman Imran Khan will not be produced before the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in contempt case today, due to the security concerns expressed by the Interior Ministry.
ECP has issued a production order for former Prime Minister Imran Khan, in case of using unparliamentary language against the Chief Election Commissioner and the Election Commission.
ECP demanded Imran Khan be produced before the commission today (October 24), but things did not go as planned after the Interior Ministry and the police expressed high-security concerns about the PTI chairman’s life.
The report issued by the interior ministry mentioned threat alerts linked to Adiala Jail and Imran Khan’s appearance at the ECP.
Secretary Election Commission stated that the ECP staff shall go to the Adiala Jail for the case hearing, but CEC also raised security concerns to the ECP itself.
CEC demanded the Interior Ministry to provide paramilitary forces for the appearance of Chairman PTI at the ECP.
Following the exchange of views over security concerns, ECP summoned the Interior Secretary to the next hearing and adjourned the hearing till November 13.
