- Prince Harry claims William physically assaulted him during a heated fight.
- His book, “Spare,” is scheduled to be released next week.
- William later apologized, the extract says.
As The Guardian reported on Thursday, Prince Harry claims in his much awaited new memoir that his brother Prince William physically assaulted him during a heated fight over their failing relationship.
The book, “Spare,” is scheduled to be released next week, according to the newspaper, which claimed to have a copy in advance.
The publication claimed that during a 2019 argument at Harry’s Kensington Palace house, William allegedly branded Harry’s wife, former actress Meghan Markle, “difficult,” “rude,” and “aggressive,” and then grabbed Harry by the collar and tore off his necklace before knocking him to the ground.
“I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me,” the book is quoted as saying. “I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out.”
William later apologized, the extract says.
King Charles III’s office at Buckingham Palace and William’s Kensington Palace office have not responded to the allegations.
The book, due out on Tuesday, is the most recent in a spate of claims and public revelations made by Harry and Meghan that have shocked the British royal family.
In May 2018, Harry, 38, and the American actress were wed at Windsor Castle. Less than two years later, the couple resigned from their royal duties and relocated to California, citing Meghan’s interracial treatment by the media and the lack of support from the palace.
