ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) leader Chaudhry Fawad Hussain on Friday said the main reason behind the storm of inflation was the increase in the prices of oil and gas.
“The back of the middle class is broken (due to inflation), as they cannot pay for electricity,” Fawad Chaudhry said in a statement.
He said Pakistan would benefit from the agreement with Russia. Oil and gas would have been available cheaply and we would not have encountered inflation, if the government had accepted the Russian government’s offer earlier, he maintained. The government had wasted six months, he added.
The PTI leader said they supported every step of the government which benefitted the country.
“Economic indicators of Pakistan are very dangerous. There should be a stable government that focuses on the country’s economy,” he said adding that the PTI was getting stronger and stronger with each passing day.

By amending the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) law, Priem Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Pakistan Muslim League-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz were being given relief, said Fawad.
He said the last days of the government were going on. He said the government ran away from the election, as the people have decided. The government is nowhere to be seen, he said.
“The government is showing brazen actions, but we will fix it,” the former information minister said.
He said the PTI would hold a public meeting in Charsadda on Saturday, and another one in Chakwal on Monday. Whereas, he said the PTI core committee meeting would be held on Saturday.
The K-Electric and the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) have signed an agreement pertaining to tax collection in the form of “KMC charges” or “municipal tax.”
A monthly municipal tax amounting to Rs50 has been imposed on the consumption of 200 units of electricity, Rs150 for consuming 200-700 units, whereas Rs200 on the consumption of more than 700 units.
On the other hand, commercial and industrial users will have to pay Rs200 monthly in the form of a municipal tax. Sources familiar with the matter said tax will also be collected for using more than one electricity meter.
In Karachi, at least 2.4 million people will have to pay the municipal tax. According to the agreement signed with the KMC, Rs250 million will be spent by the people of Karachi for paying the newly imposed tax.
