King Charles and Queen Camilla shut down social media pages

The Clarence House Instagram and Twitter accounts followed the couple before the Queen passed away. Now that King Charles is the legitimate monarch, these sites won’t be updated any longer.

The late Queen Elizabeth’s son and his wife will utilise new social media profiles as they assume their regal responsibilities.

The official Royal Family social media profiles will now be used by the new King Charles III and Camilla, Queen Consort.

On Twitter and Instagram, the Clarence House account that previously followed Charles and Camilla’s official activities is still live. However, the revised bios state: “This account is not being updated at this time. For updates on His Majesty King Charles III and Her Majesty The Queen Consort, follow @theroyalfamily on Twitter.”

The shared social media accounts of Prince William and Kate Middleton already reflect their new positions. The official Twitter handle @KensingtonRoyal has changed from Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to Prince and Princess of Wales, and the royal couple’s Instagram account has been renamed @PrinceandPrincessofWales.

The official Royal Family Instagram tweeted a statement on the day that Queen Elizabeth passed away, which was the first time the social media account referred to him as “His Majesty The King.” Since then, the account has posted a video of King Charles III’s 10-minute inaugural address to the country and his official declaration as monarch.

In his address, King Charles III praised his mother’s constant “dedication and devotion as Sovereign” and “fearless acceptance of advancement.” The speech was also broadcast on television. His Majesty’s renewal of the late Queen’s “commitment of lifetime service” served as the touching tribute’s capstone.
