The incident happened in the Gajapathinagaram mandal of the Vizianagaram district, and Taddi Kalavathi is a native of Marrivalasa village. The sources claim that Taddi Kalavathi arrived in her hometown two days ago and was ready to leave for Visakhapatnam on Friday because she had a test on Saturday.
There were no boats available to transport her to the other side of the river because the Champavati river was in flood due to severe rains upstream, cutting off the settlement.
The girl jumped into the river because she had no other choice. She couldn’t swim, so her brother and another family member carried her across the river on their shoulders.
