Two bodies found after family drowns in Karachi’s Malir River

KARACHI: Two bodies have been recovered from Malir River after a vehicle with seven people drowned after heavy rainfall, Bol News reported.

Six family members and their driver went missing after their car was washed away on the National Highway Link Road.

Rescue teams have recovered the bodies of two children. They were identified as Yunma and Musa, while the remaining five are still missing. Rescue workers of Edhi Foundation and police teams are still searching for the remaining bodies from the river.

The tragic accident occurred in the Malir River when the family’s car was swept away by a flash flood due to heavy rainfall. The rescue teams found the vehicle and started a search for the missing family.

According to reports, the husband, wife with their four children and driver were traveling in the ill-fated car when the incident occurred. Rescue team said that the incident happened due to the strong floods in the Malir River.

Karachi is witnessing excessive rainfall this year and the road infrastructure has been damaged by the torrential rains. The floodwaters have led to the closure of Korangi Causeway for all kind of traffic.
