Another motorcyclist crushed to death by dumber in Karachi

Another motorcyclist

KARACHI: A fatal road accident on Karachi’s Nishtar Road in the Ramswami area left a motorcyclist dead on Tuesday, after a speeding dumper truck struck him, triggering violent protests from enraged residents who later set the vehicle on fire.

Following the accident, enraged residents surrounded the dumper, vandalized it, and later set it on fire. Tension escalated when Dumper Association President Liaquat Mehsud arrived at the scene in Garden. The crowd surrounded his vehicle, prompting his armed guards to draw their weapons.

According to reports, during the confrontation, guards of the Dumper Association fired shots into the air, while angry residents pelted the association’s vehicles with stones. Both the police and the dumper association members reportedly fled the scene amid the chaos.

Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori took notice of the Ramswami incident, expressing grief over the loss of an innocent life. He condemned the firing on citizens by the guards, stressing that “no one is allowed to take the law into their own hands.”

Governor Tessori questioned why the police failed to respond promptly to the firing and directed authorities to take immediate legal action. He urged all sides to resolve such matters through dialogue instead of confrontation.

Two separate cases have been registered at the Garden Police Station following the tragic death of a man and the injury of his wife after their motorcycle was hit by a dumper truck, police officials confirmed.

According to police, the first FIR was lodged by Muhammad Shahid, the father of the deceased Shahzaib, against the dumper driver responsible for the accident. Shahzaib, who had been married just three months ago, died on the spot, while his wife sustained serious injuries.

The second case was filed by a local resident, Abdul Qadir, against Dumper Association President Liaquat Mehsud. Police said the complaint includes allegations that one of Mehsud’s armed guards opened fire at the scene, creating panic among residents.

The FIR includes charges related to aerial firing and spreading fear and chaos. The complainant stated that he was present at the scene along with community elders when Liaquat Mehsud arrived with his gunmen and associates. According to the FIR, they resorted to heavy aerial firing before fleeing the area.

Police have launched an investigation into both incidents.
