Pakistani citizens planning to visit Italy for tourism must apply for a Schengen visa before traveling. Italy, famous for its rich history, stunning scenery, and vibrant culture, remains one of Europe’s most popular destinations.
Financial Requirements:
To obtain a Schengen visa, applicants must demonstrate they have sufficient funds to cover their stay in Italy. A valid bank statement not older than 30 days is required as part of the application.
Reports state that the minimum daily amount required to cover expenses in Italy is €28.
If someone plans to stay for the maximum allowed period of 90 days, they must show at least €2,520 in their account.
As of November 4, 2025, one Euro equals Rs. 331, meaning applicants need to have around Rs. 834,000 available in their bank account for a 90-day stay.
Visa Approval Rate:
In 2024, Italy’s Schengen visa approval rate stood at 88.72%, making it one of the highest in Europe. However, approval largely depends on the accuracy and completeness of submitted documents, especially the bank statement.
Schengen Visa Goes Digital:
Meanwhile, the European Union has started rolling out a fully digital Schengen visa system, eliminating the need for physical paperwork.
Under the new system, travelers will use a secure, encrypted 2D barcode instead of traditional visa stickers. This change aims to make the process faster, safer, and more efficient, while reducing the risks of fraud and document loss.
Applicants will soon be able to complete the entire visa process online — including document uploads, fee payments, tracking applications, and receiving the visa digitally.
The EU says this digital transformation will simplify the process and cut down the administrative burden on member states.
