ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan on Saturday said he did not take to streets to wage a war against his country’s institutions.
Addressing a mammoth rally at Parade Ground in Islamabad, Imran Khan said he did not resort to inflict damage to his country. He said the opposition wanted to them to stand in front of the state institutions.
He said the government elected by 220 million people was dismantled to impose an “imported government of corrupt people”.
People were enraged against police for firing teargas shells on women and kids during the Azadi March, he said. No law allowed attacking unarmed women and children, he maintained. They portrayed a scene of the occupied Kashmir just to protect their jobs, he said criticising police and rangers personnel.
Imran Khan said people had come out to give a message to the institutions that protect the country from the thieves. “You still have time, lest the game slip out of your hands,” he said. He asked the state institutions if he was only responsible to struggle against corruption. “Is it not your country as well?” he asked.
Berating the coalition government’s making amendment in the NAB law, he asked the judiciary if it happened anywhere that the suspect had become a judge. He said the nation was robbed of Rs1,100 billion through the NAB law amendments.

He said, “Through NAB law amendments, they gave themselves NRO II.”
The PTI chief praised the establishment for remaining neutrals in politics. However, he asked, if they were not accountable before Allah (SWT) as they were the powerhouse. He said everyone would be asked in the hereafter about his responsibilities.
“The only purpose behind my coming out is that ‘the imported government is not acceptable,’” he said asking if there was any need for independent, when we had to do slavery of the United States.
He said he wanted that by the time he would appear before Allah (SWT), his nation would have understood meaning of ‘La Ilaha Illallah’. “‘La Ilaha Illallah’ means that ‘O Allah, I bow unto no one but you’,” he said. He said the kalma removed fear of all the creations.
Taking a dig at Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the former PM said when a state’s chief executive begged, he disrespected the nation. He said inflation was never a problem for the coalition parties, as they only wanted to give themselves an NRO. He warned that more inflation was looming over the country.
Imran Khan also condemned the government’s using different tactics to harass and torture journalists. He said FIRs with false allegations were lodged against Bol news channel anchorperson Sami Ibrahim, anchor Imran Riaz Khan and others. He said he knew journalist Ayaz Amir for 35 years and he knew one thing that he did not sell his conscience.
