ACE springs into action against PTI leaders

LAHORE: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Punjab has sprung into action against the leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) since Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) took over the charge of the province, Bol News has learnt reliably.

Since PML-N came into power, a couple of month back, several FIRs have been registered against PTI leaders including former Punjab chief minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, his brothers and former federal minister Dr Shireen Mazari on the charges of fraudulently transferring state land in their names in 1970 and 1980s when the accused were children.

In the latest development, the Anti-Corruption Establishment has registered and arrested former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Faisalabad Industrial Estate Development and Management Company Rana Yousuf and Secretary Special Economic Zone Committee Maqsood Ahmed.

According to an ACE source, the accused were arrested for allegedly allotting 10 acres industrial plot in Faisalabad Economic Zone to Farhat Shahzadi, alias Farha Gogi, a close aide of Bushra Bibi, wife of former Prime Minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan.

The source further said the arrested accused allegedly illegally allotted industrial plots to Farah Gogi and her mother’s company Al Moez Dairy.

“The accused allotted a ten-acre plot, worth Rs 600 million for only Rs 83 million in Faisalabad Special Economic Zone to an alleged fake company of Farah Gogi.”

The value of the company should have been Rs 2 billion to acquire the industrial plot, the source said, adding Farah Gogi’s husband Ahsan Jamil Gujjar allegedly gave a fake guarantee of Rs 2 billion to acquire the prized land.

To a question, the ACE official said the department has also launched a probe into assets of Farah Gogi and Ahsan Jamil Gujjar.

A three-member anti-corruption joint investigation team is investigating the case.

In another development, the anti-graft body of the province has also launched a probe into alleged irregularities and corruption into the affairs of Quaid-e-Azam Solar Power Company.

According to sources, the ACE Lahore Region has summoned Aamer Ali Jan, Principal Secretary to former CM Usman Buzdar, chairman of the company’s board Prof Dr Sohail Ahmad Qureshi and others officials for July 5 to record their statements.

The department has launched the inquiry into solar energy project which was launched to provide electricity in six villages of different districts of South Punjab.

There was a plan to provide 100 kWh of electricity to each village. Sky Blue Builders contractors were hired to set up solar power projects for the purpose.

The company also appointed a consultant company for key positions, including chief executive officer, plant manager, and human resource manager.

According to the sources, the accused are facing charges of violating laid down procedures for appointments to senior positions.

Anti-Corruption would also check the quality of the material as well.

The construction company has also been included in the investigation, the sources further said.
