- PAC sought report on the demand and supply of power across country
The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) took notice of the prolonged power load-shedding across the country and summoned the officials of the Ministry of Energy on July 5, reported Bol News on Saturday.
Chairman PAC summoned the officials of the concerned ministry to brief about the current electricity crisis in the country.
The PAC also sought a briefing on the demand and supply of power across Pakistan.
It is pertinent to mention here that the electricity crisis has worsened in the past few weeks amid scorching summer.
Notably, the power shortfall has reached 6,000MW while the generation stands at 22,000MW in Pakistan. The demand for electricity is 28,500MW due to which the power cuts in urban areas have reached up to 10-12 hours per day.
The duration of load shedding in rural areas is 14 to 16 hours while the exempted areas are also facing outages for up to 6 hours daily.
