According to Apple’s website, the price of the entry-level iPhone 13 has increased to 117,800 yen ($870), up from the prior price of 99,800 yen. The manufacturer is situated in Cupertino, California.

The value of the dollar has increased against the yen by 18 percent so far this year. As a result, the price of the iPhone, which dominates the smartphone market in Japan, has increased at a time when customers’ wallets are being squeezed by price increases for essential everyday items.

After several years of maintaining consistent pricing across a wide range of goods, most Japanese consumers have been caught off guard by these widespread price increases.

A request for comment was sent to Apple, but the company did not immediately answer.
