Boris Johnson, the prime minister of the United Kingdom, thinks that Russia’s disgraceful retreat from Snake [Zmiinyi] Island demonstrates Ukraine’s capacity to push back.
Johnson said at a news conference at the NATO Summit in Madrid, “If you wanted evidence of the amazing ability of the Ukrainians to fight back, to overcome adversity, and to repel the Russians then look at what has happened just today on Snake Island, where again Russia has had to cede ground.” Johnson voiced faith in Ukraine’s ability to fend off the aggressor state.
Johnson continued, “Putin will ultimately find it impossible to maintain control over a nation that will not submit to his leadership.
Johnson also promised, “no matter how difficult it may be,” to keep stepping up military support for Ukraine, according to Sky News.
According to Johnson, “it is only reasonable and right to continue supporting Ukraine in the manner in which we are and, in fact, to continue stepping up that military support.”
Recall that Russian troops rapidly departed the island’s last Russian garrison after another phase of Ukraine’s military operation on Snake Island.
