President Joe Biden visits Texas the site of the horrific Texas school shooting to pay his respects to those who died.
Jill Biden, the first lady of the United States, arrived in Uvalde and first visited the memorial outside Robb Elementary School.
They took a minute to admire each of the 21 white crosses constructed in memory of the victims, which represented the 19 children and two youngsters slain, and laid white roses in front of the school’s sign.
The Bidens attended mass at the Sacred Heart cathedral, where they were confronted by demonstrators pleading with the president to “do something,” prompting him to say twice: “We will.”
Mr. Biden later tweeted that he is grieving, praying, and standing in solidarity with the people of Uvalde. “And we are committed to turning this pain into action,” he said.
Mckinzie Hinojosa, whose cousin Eliahana Torres was killed on Tuesday, said she admired Mr. Biden’s decision to join the people of Uvalde in their grief. “It’s more than mourning,” she said. “We want change. We want action. It continues to be something that happens over and over and over. A mass shooting happens. It’s on the news. People cry. Then it’s gone. Nobody cares. And then it happens again. And again.”

The couple also met with families who had lost loved ones, survivors, and first responders to hear their tales and offer comfort.
Mr. Biden’s travel to Uvalde is his third presidential visit in response to a mass shooting, having previously paid his respects to the ten victims of a gun attack on a supermarket in Buffalo earlier this month.
