BAP angry group, coalition parties fail to table no-trust motion against CM Bizenjo

The angry group of ruling Balochistan Awami Party and coalition parties failed to table a no-trust motion against Chief Minister Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo in the provincial assembly on Thursday as three MPAs who signed the motion withdrew their support and did not attend the session.

The group leader of the disgruntled MPAs of BAP and the other two parties including PTI and ANP, Jam Kamal Khan Alyani, who had submitted a no-trust motion against the party’s chief minister with the support of 14 MPAs who had signed the motion but failed to produce 20 percent members in the house of 65 for presenting the no-trust motion.

The assembly session, which was convened by the acting Governor Mir Jan Muhammad Khan Jamali for formally tabling the no-trust motion in the house against Mr. Bizenjo started five hours late of its scheduled time presided over by Deputy Speaker Sardar Babar Khan Musakhail.

He asked the movers of the no-confidence motion to produce 20 percent MPAs in the house 65 members for starting the proceeding of moving the no-trust motion. One of the signatories of the motion, Mir Zahoor Ahmed Buledi after getting permission from the Chair presented the motion against the Chief Minister but could not succeed to produce the required 20 present members in the support of the no-trust motion.

Only 11 MPAs of the disgruntled group supported the motion when the speaker asked for voting while three other members, who had signed the motion did not attend the assembly session while required members were 13 for acceptance of the motion for allowing discussion the no-trust motion.

Three members of the disgruntled group who have signed the motion and did not attend the assembly session including Nawabzada Tariq Hussain Magsi (BAP), Malik Naeem Bazai (ANP) and Mobeen Ahmed Khilji (PTI).

However, 11 other signatories of the motion, including Jam Kamal Khan Alyani, Saleem Ahmed Khosa, Mir Arif Jan Muhammad Hasni, Matha Khan Kakar, Sardar Sarfraz Ahmed Domki, Zahoor Ahmed Buledi (BAP), Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind, Nawabzada Niamatullah Zehri, Bibi Fareeda (PTI), Asghar Khan Achakzai and Shaheena Bibi of the ANP were present and supported the no-trust motion.

The deputy speaker rejected the no-trust motion after movers failed to produce the required 20 percent members in support of their motion. Hot words were exchanged between Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind of PTI and sitting Minister for Agriculture Mir Asadullah Baloch during the session when Sardar Rind wanted to speak on the no-trust motion. He said that members should be allowed to speak on the no-trust motion.

They stood up against each other. However, the other members intervened and controlled the situation.

The deputy speaker, drawing attention to the lack of quorum by a member, postponed the session for an indefinite period.
