With temperatures reaching record highs, tens of millions of Indians are trying to cope with the gruelling heat.

Gujral Singh, a construction worker, sheds tears as he expresses his concerns about working in India’s scorching heat this summer.
Hundreds of millions of Indians are suffering from a relentless heat wave, with temperatures in certain parts of the country reaching levels not seen in more than 120 years.
“It’s becoming impossible for me to do my job,” Singh, a 47-year-old father of two, said. “Last summer, I was able to complete the assignment efficiently. I’ve passed out a handful of times already this summer. I’m not sure how I’ll meet my family’s long-term needs.”
Another construction labourer, Pravesh Solanki, 32, mirrored the sentiments, but added that the hardships of working outdoors in the high heat are not limited to the elderly.
