According to Kristina Kvien, a top US diplomat, US diplomats in Ukraine want to return to the embassy in Kyiv before the end of the month.
“We intend to continue doing day visits for the next week or two,” she said at a press conference, “and then we very much hope that the conditions will allow us to return to Kyiv by the end of the month.”
Before Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, US diplomats fled the capital in mid-February. It originally made its way to Lviv, Ukraine, and subsequently to Poland.
“We pay attention to the security specialists, and when they say we can go back, we do,” Kvien remarked.
