According to the UK Ministry of Defense, a fifth of the Russian battalion units that invaded Ukraine have now been deemed “ineffective.”
Russia committed about 120 battalion tactical groups, or about 65 percent of its total ground combat power.
“It is likely that more than a quarter of these units have now been rendered combat ineffective,” the Ministry of Defense.
“Some of Russia’s most elite units, including the VDV Airborne Forces, have suffered the highest levels of attrition. It will probably take years for Russia to reconstitute these forces,” it said.
