Earlier, former governor Sindh Imran Ismail resigned from his office and sent his resignation to the President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi on April 11.
The governor’s resignation came along with a number of resignations by the PTI lawmakers ahead of the election for the Leader of the House.
After the vote on the no-confidence motion against the Imran Khan-led government, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif was set to contest the election against PTI nominee Shah Mahmood Qureshi, however, the PTI lawmakers boycotted the session after a speech by their candidate.
