Rafael Nadal believes ban on Russian and Belarusian players is unfair

The Spanish tennis great Rafael Nadal says the decision by the authorities has prevented Russian and Belarusian players from competing in this year’s Wimbledon due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and Belarus is “extremely unfair.”

As a result of this decision, players like Daniil Medvedev, Aryna Sabalenka, Anastasia Pavyluchenkova, and Victoria Azarenka will be unable to compete.

However, according to BBC Sport, Nadal, the winner of the Australian Open in 2022, has questioned the decision, believing that it is not the fault of the players.

“I think it’s very unfair on my Russian tennis mates, my colleagues. It’s not their fault what’s happening in this moment with the war,” Nadal said.

“What happens in our game doesn’t have any importance when we can see so many people dying and suffering and seeing the bad situation they are having in Ukraine,” he added.
