The situation along Ukraine’s Transnistrian border with Moldova remains tight. In an interview, Andriy Demchenko, a spokeswoman for Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service, stated this.
“The situation on the Transnistrian segment of the Moldovan border remains tense. It’s probable that, as with Belarusian land, the adversary will use this area to escalate the conflict. However, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are taking all necessary efforts to bolster [the protection of] these areas on both the Belarusian border and in Transnistria. All information that could have an impact on border security is considered “Demchenko remarked.
According to a Ukrainian government decision, checkpoints at the Transnistrian border with Moldovan, the Belarusian border, and the Russian border remain closed.
Demchenko claimed that since February 24, more than five million people have crossed Ukraine’s state boundary in both directions, including 3.885 million persons who have left Ukraine. More than a million Ukrainians have returned to their homeland.
He also stated that Ukrainian border guards continued to record incidences of Ukrainian people violating the state border outside of checkpoints.
