MangoBaaz, Pro-Pakistan owners

KARACHI: A local court on Tuesday issued arrest warrants for the owners and some of the employees of online news outlets MangoBaaz and Pro Pakistani on the charges of publishing and disseminating fake news, reports BOL News.

The arrest warrants have been issued in the names of Ali Ahmed Gul and Ali Ahsan Gul, who operates MangoBaaz and Aamir Attaa, the founder of the Pro Pakistani.

The court also issued arrested warrants for Syed Sarmad Amir, Alvina Jadoon, Eman Arian, Adil Shah, Sajawal Rehman, Moazzam Saqib and Hashim.

The court said that both the websites published fake and fabricated news reports about sensitive institutions and levelled baseless allegations against them.

Both these websites are known for carrying sensational content and fake stories about celebrities, politicians and prominent figures from various walks of life. But this is for the first time that the law has moved against them.

In journalistic circles, these websites are taken as non-serious and non-professional platforms, involved in churning out mostly unverified content.
