Washington: President Donald Trump has dramatically escalated his stance on Nigeria’s religious violence, issuing both a stern warning and a military directive.
Trump has formally ordered the Pentagon (referred to by him as the Department of War) to draw up plans for a possible military intervention designed to halt the ongoing religious massacres in the country.
He unequivocally stated that the United States is prepared to deploy its “full might” to eradicate terrorism there.
Furthermore, the President delivered a clear ultimatum: if the Nigerian government fails to immediately curb the religiously motivated killings, the U.S. will terminate all economic and security assistance.
Trump emphasized that any future partnership and the continued flow of American aid are entirely conditional on Nigeria establishing and maintaining strict standards for religious freedom and the civil security of all its people.
