Pakistan and Canada have reached an agreement to promote and expand bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector.
The Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) is actively striving to bring development and innovation to Pakistan’s farm industry.
Federal Minister for National Food Security, Rana Tanveer Hussain, and Canadian High Commissioner, Tariq Ali Khan, expressed their strong commitment to furthering this collaboration.
Both nations discussed increasing collaboration in areas such as hybrid seed development, livestock breeding, and feed formulation.
The Federal Minister proposed joint ventures for the local manufacturing of agricultural machinery in Pakistan.
Focus was placed on cultivating canola, which is expected to modernize agricultural production, increase farmers’ income, and improve access to global markets. This partnership in agriculture and food security is set to boost Pakistani exports internationally.
Pakistan and Canada have agreed to form a Joint Working Group to address issues related to certification, market access, and technical cooperation.
These efforts underscore that the effective policies of the SIFC are successfully winning the confidence of foreign investors, thereby working to further stabilize the national economy.
