A shocking video of Will Smith has surfaced in the wake of his Oscars slap, and it offers new insight into his relationship with Jada. The video is reported to be an old video from 2019.
The Academy will meet today to discuss whether or not to strip Will Smith of his Oscar for slapping Chris Rock over a joke he made about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith during the Academy Awards last week.
The shocking video clip was posted by the New York Times, which constitutes about 49 seconds. The viewers revealed that Will was anxious in that video.
The video opens with Jada promoting her internet talk show “Red Table Talk,” saying, “You know [therapist] Esther Perel is coming to the table — she’s gonna be at the ‘Red Table.’”
“Would you say she has been instrumental in you and I redefining our relationship?” she asks Will, to which he responds, “I would say don’t just start filming me without asking me.”
Jada Ignores Will’s Request
Jada seems to ignore her husband’s request, telling her fans that she is “still dealing with foolishness.”
“Would you say that she [Perel] helped us heal the hurts that we caused between one another?” she asks.
A clearly annoyed Will fires back by saying, “My social media presence is my bread and butter. So you can’t just use me for social media. Don’t just start rolling; I’m standing in my house. Don’t start rolling.”
Social media users on the site Reddit were extremely disturbed by the video.
“He [Smith] looks so uncomfortable,” one user commented, with another adding, “He looks hella anxious like he knows Jada is going to provoke him and he’s afraid of how it will go down.”
The meeting to decide Will’s future was initially been scheduled for April 18, but Academy officials decided to push it up to today in order to accelerate the proceedings.
“The members — of which there are over 9,000, with hundreds of WhatsApp groups flying about — are completely split,” one L.A. source told.
“The decision was made earlier this week to expedite the hearing in the wake of Will’s resignation,” the insider added. “And during that call, it was clear that the decision would go to the wire.”
“The governors themselves are also said to be in disagreement,” the source continued, explaining that some found it wrong to strip Smith of his Oscar while “convicted sexual predator Harvey Weinstein and fugitive child rapist Roman Polanski” have yet to be stripped of their awards.
“But, as we all know, Hollywood is a law unto itself, frankly,” the insider concluded.
It will certainly be stimulating to see how this all turns out, but one thing is for sure, and that is that nobody will be forgetting this Oscar moment anytime soon.
