Former President Trump stated in an interview that he intended to march alongside his supporters during the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the Capitol, and that he would have done it if Secret Service hadn’t refused.
Trump informed the source that he intended to attend the rally but was told he couldn’t because of security concerns.
“I couldn’t go because the Secret Service told I couldn’t.” Trump stated, “I would have gone there in a heartbeat.”
According to the Washington Post, the former president also complimented the rally’s organizers, some of whom are now facing subpoenas for their actions on Jan. 6.
According to a foreign news website, Trump said he had no regrets asking his fans to come to Washington or tweeting that the rally would “be wild!” on the day of the disturbance. Throughout the discussion, Trump remained defensive and defended his behavior on January 6.
“The gathering was far larger than I had anticipated. I think it was the biggest crowd I’ve ever addressed. I’m not sure what that means, but there aren’t many photographs. They don’t want to show images, and the phony press doesn’t want to show pictures,” Trump stated. “However, this was a massive throng.”
According to an International news channel, former president George H.W. Bush’s advisers portrayed him as “enthusiastic” while watching television during the march and subsequent attack on the Capitol.
According to the reports, Trump eventually succumbed to family and lawmakers’ appeals and broadcast a video asking his fans to return home about three hours after the attack began.
Trump told the news organization that he did not recall receiving many phone calls on Jan. 6, and that he did not delete call logs or use a burner phone on that day.
According to various sites, the White House call logs handed to the committee investigating the events of January 6 showed a gap of more than 7 hours.
Throughout the interview with a foreign news channel, Trump refused to take responsibility for the Capitol violence, instead accusing Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the mayor of Washington, D.C. of being to blame.
“I thought it was a pity, and I kept thinking to myself, ‘Why isn’t she doing something about it?'” Why isn’t Nancy Pelosi taking action on this? ‘As well as the mayor of Washington, D.C.’ Trump stated, “The mayor of D.C. and Nancy Pelosi are in charge.”
“I despised witnessing that.” It irritated me to see it. “It has to be taken care of,” I answered, “and I assumed they were taking care of it”, he added.
