Watch: Netizens mesmerised by cap cloud rotating over mountain

The best things in life, they say, are free. You’ll believe the same thing after one good glance at a gorgeous glimpse of mother nature. Mother nature has mesmerised us once again with an intriguing dome-like cap cloud whirling above a mountain.

The video was published on Twitter a day ago by the account ‘Amazing Nature,’ and it has over 233k views.

A lenticular cloud, also known as a cap cloud, can be seen circling over a snow-capped mountain’s peak in this weird yet gorgeous video. Like a sluggish upside-down tornado, the cloud built a triangle hat-like formation around the mountain and kept moving around in the same location. The vista was really stunning.

What is a lenticular cloud?

When moisture levels in the upper atmosphere begin to rise, lenticular clouds form above mountain tops. Because they are related with waves in the atmosphere, lenticular clouds are also known as standing wave clouds. These form when fast-moving air over a physical impediment, such as a mountain range or a volcano, is propelled up over it.

The deflection, like waves in the ocean, creates a wave in the atmosphere downwind of the obstruction once it’s propelled up. When the air condenses within the crests of these mountain waves, clouds form.
