No-confidence motion: Opposition slams PM Imran for running away

The opposition leaders slammed the deputy speaker for adjourning the national assembly (NA) session without voting on no-confidence and challenged Prime Minister Imran Khan to face them in the parliament.

Addressing the media in Islamabad, Opposition Leader in the National Assembly (NA) Shehbaz Sharif said the assembly’s deputy speaker violated and mocked the law and constitution.

He said the opposition had requested the speaker for voting on the no-confidence motion today while adding that the opposition had shown its strength in the legislature with 172 members.

The opposition leader said the government did not present the alleged threat letter in the assembly and labelled it as a farce.

Shehbaz also slammed Imran Khan for levelling degrading allegations against ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

Speaking on the occasion, PPP Chairman Bilawal said that Imran Khan cannot be given NRO now.

He said the only way for Imran is to tender his resignation as he has lost the majority in the NA.

Bilawal said that Imran has sunk to his knees before everyone to save his seat. “There is no face-saving now and backdoor channel,” he added.

He challenged the prime minister to face them [opposition] in the parliament and asked him to stop running away.

Imran Khan has decided to damage the country and its foreign policy as much as he can before he is ousted, Bilawal said.

He added that Imran Khan would regain a little respect if he opts to depart with dignity.
