A Turkish prosecutor has urged an Istanbul court to stop the in-person trial of 26 Saudi suspects in the assassination of Jamal Khashoggi in 2018
.According to the prosecutor, the case should be moved to Saudi Arabia.
Khashoggi, a Saudi journalist residing in the United States, was a vocal opponent of the Saudi regime and is suspected to have been murdered inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.
The court stated that it will seek the view of the Turkish justice minister on the prosecutor’s request.
The next hearing in the matter is scheduled on April 7th.
