Queen Elizabeth defied expectations to attend Prince Philip’s memorial service

Here is why Queen Elizabeth wore green at Prince Philip's funeral!

Queen Elizabeth defied expectations to attend Prince Philip’s memorial service

Queen Elizabeth braved health worries as she entered Westminster Abbey for Prince Philip’s memorial service yesterday.

Unlike Prince Philip’s low-key burial last April, the Queen was taken from Windsor to London with Prince Andrew by her side and sat surrounded by family inside Westminster Abbey.

Guests at the service included prominent members of the Royal Family as well as politicians such as Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak.

The Duke of Edinburgh was recalled as a “man of extraordinary skill and distinction” at the moving memorial ceremony.

The tribute included aspects that the Duke had intended for his own burial but were prohibited owing to Covid-19 limitations.

The Duke’s explicit desires for the congregation to sing the stirring hymn Guide Me, O Thou Great Redeemer, as well as for clergy from Windsor, Sandringham, and Balmoral to take part, were ultimately granted.

However, Prince Harry was not present, as royal biographer Phil Dampier stated: “It’s really sad that Harry and Meghan will not be at Prince Philip’s burial ceremony, and I think Harry could regret it one day.”
