According to a defence expert, Russia deployed hypersonic missiles to warn Ukraine and the west that it “has the means to escalate” the fight further.

“The Kinzhal’s speed puts it beyond any Ukrainian air defence system’s reach, and the launch platforms can launch from ranges beyond Ukraine’s reach,” Bosbotinis said.
