LAHORE: A division bench of the Lahore High Court on Friday issued a written verdict into the acquittal of Tereza Hluskova and ruled that lacunas left by the prosecution led to the exoneration of the Czech model.
In its written order, a bench comprising Justice Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Ali Baqir Najafi ruled that the female constable who had searched the model at the airport was not made witness in the case and by doing so the prosecution withheld the most important testimony.
No investigation was launched into when and how the alleged drugs arrived at the customs house from the airport. Moreover, no CCTV footage was taken from the airport. In such cases CCTV is necessary which eliminates the possibility of a false case, the court further ruled.

The complainant should have stated that he had submitted the case property to the customs house.
“Such flaws cannot be ignored in a prosecution case. The prosecution failed to prove the case against Teresa, so she was acquitted,” the verdict said.
On November 1, LHC had acquitted the model in case for attempting to smuggle heroin from Pakistan to Abu Dhabi.
In March 2019, a sessions court had sentenced Tereza to eight years and eight months in jail. In April the same year, she had challenged her conviction in the case. She has insisted someone had placed the drugs in her suitcase.
