Main Manto Nahi Hoon has become the center of attention these days. Every character in the drama is leaving an impact, and fans eagerly share their opinions after each episode. While the performances are being praised, many viewers are unhappy about the teacher-student romance track between Manto and Mehmal, mainly because of the visible age gap.
Humayun Saeed, who plays the lead role, recently spoke about this on Maliha Rehman’s show. He openly addressed the criticism and explained the thought behind the storyline. Humayun said that teacher-student love stories do exist in real life too—people fall in love, and sometimes even end up marrying.
He shared that the drama shows Mehmal’s side of things. Growing up in a violent environment, she finds comfort and attraction in Manto, a man who is gentle and self-sufficient, someone who even cooks for himself. This contrast makes her drawn to him.
Humayun added that if the drama had introduced a romance track from the beginning, viewers might have accepted it more easily. Right now, what’s being shown is just a crush from Mehmal’s side, shaped by her circumstances.
