Karachi faces gas shortage on first Sehri of Ramadan 2025

Despite assurances from gas supply companies, several cities faced a severe gas shortage during the first Sehri of Ramadan 2025, leaving residents struggling to prepare their pre-dawn meals.

Gas distribution companies had promised an uninterrupted supply during Sehri and Iftar hours. However, on the first day of Ramadan, many areas, including Karachi and Rawalpindi, experienced complete gas outages.

In Karachi, neighborhoods such as Rifah Aam Society, Malir, Nazimabad, Gulbahar, Sir Syed Town, North Karachi, UP Mor, and Ranchore Line were badly affected.

Similarly, in Rawalpindi, localities like Sixth Road, Satellite Town, Dhoke Kashmirian, Dhoke Pracha, Service Road, Dhoke Kala Khan, Khurram Colony, and Sadiqabad also reported gas shortages.

With no gas available, many families were unable to cook Sehri and had to rely on hotels and roadside stalls for food. In some places, residents had no option but to begin fasting without a meal.

The unexpected gas shortage has sparked concerns about the reliability of gas supply throughout the holy month, as both Sui Northern Gas Company and Sui Southern Gas Company failed to fulfill their promise of uninterrupted service.
