The government has decided to extend relief to electricity consumers using up to 300 units per month and agricultural tube wells. The Power Division has formally requested the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to approve this relief initiative.
Federal Minister for Energy, Ovais Ahmad Khan Leghari, announced that the reduction in monthly fuel adjustments would now also apply to these consumers, marking a significant step toward easing their financial burden.
According to the Power Division’s letter, electricity users consuming up to 300 units per month have been excluded from monthly fuel adjustment benefits since June 2015, while agricultural tube wells have not received this benefit since December 2010.
The letter stressed that including these consumer categories in the fuel cost reduction policy would lower their monthly electricity bills, providing essential relief.
