Islamabad: Senior lawyer Ahsan Bhoon has been appointed as a member of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) for two –years.

The Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) has approved the appointment of Ahsan Bhoon as a member of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan.

According to the Pakistan Bar Council, Ahsan Bhoon has been elected as JCP member with 14 votes and will remain a member of the Commission for the next two years.

Earlier,  Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) representative and senior advocate Akhtar Hussain resigned as member of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP).

Senior Advocate Akhtar Hussain wrote in his letter that the Pakistan Bar Council nominated him three times a member of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan under Article 175 (A) (VI) of the Constitution of Pakistan 1973, in his responsibilities. “I continued to perform my responsibilities according to my best abilities”.

He submitted his resignation to the chairman of the JCP, Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, wherein he expressed concerns over controversies surrounding judicial appointments.
