  • The Pakistani film “The Legend of Maula Jatt” remade Sultan Rahi’s popular Punjabi movie “Maula Jatt”.
  • Sultan Rahi’s son, Haider Sultan, criticized the remake and announced plans for “Son of Maula Jatt.”
  • Ukasha Gul criticized the remake for not doing justice to the original movie and for copying Holthe lywood style.

Pakistani film “The Legend of Maula Jatt” remade Sultan Rahi’s blockbuster Punjabi movie “Maula Jatt”, which gained worldwide popularity. Nasir Adeeb wrote the script for the original film, while Muhammad Sarwar Bhatti produced it in 1979, and Yunus Malik directed it. In recent years, Amarah Hikmat and Bilal Lashari created a star-studded remake of “Maula Jatt” with the same writer, turning it into a successful venture. They drew inspiration from Hollywood cinematography, and the film achieved great commercial success.

Lately, Haider Sultan, son of Sultan Rahi, criticized the modern remake of “Maula Jatt”. He also announced his plans to create “Son of Maula Jatt” soon.

In the podcast, hosted by Ukasha Gul, he said, “The remake didn’t do justice to the original movie, although it was a good production. They filmed it in a Hollywood style, which was a plus point as it boosted their business. I think the character didn’t suit Fawad Khan. It was a role meant for a strong person, a man of honor and integrity, but Fawad didn’t stand out in the film. Mahira Khan’s character could have been given to an authentic Punjabi Jatti. Humaima Malick and Hamza Ali Abbasi were brilliant; they performed better than the main leads. The film lost its authenticity due to its attempt to copy Hollywood.” Here is the link to the video
