During PTI founder’s tenure, an agreement was reached to place all seminaries under the Ministry of Education. As part of this agreement, foreign students were granted a nine-year visa.
Currently, 18,000 seminaries are operational with 2.2 million students enrolled, and the registration process continues smoothly without any interference.
Recently, around 2,500 students were provided training in freelancing, with approximately PKR 75 million disbursed to support them.
This initiative has proven beneficial to students while ensuring the protection and smooth operation of seminaries.
The 18,000 seminaries under the Ministry of Education have faced no significant issues to date. However, concerns were raised about the potential risks if any changes or amendments are introduced to this system. Such changes could lead to the cancellation of their registration, which officials have deemed unacceptable.
While Molana Fazl ur Rehman has shown interest in bringing his seminaries under the Ministry of Industries and Commerce, there are no objections to this move.
Nevertheless, the government emphasizes that the 18,000 seminaries, comprising 2.2 million students, represent a well-established education system that took significant effort to build. Disruptions or losses to this system would not be tolerated.
