Hamid Ali Khan, a renowned music maestro celebrated for captivating audiences worldwide, recently opened up about a memorable experience from his childhood during a podcast appearance.
Khan shared his recollections of a visit to India, where he performed alongside fellow young artist Asad Amanat Ali. The performance left a lasting impression on the Indian audience, who responded with admiration and applause.
Khan recounted how, as children, he and Asad Amanat Ali were invited to perform on a prestigious stage in India, with prominent figures such as Dilip Kumar and Manoj Kumar in attendance.
Initially, the audience was puzzled as to why Pakistan would send two young boys to represent their country. However, once the duo began singing classic pieces, the crowd was spellbound, including stars like Manoj Kumar, who were deeply moved by their talent.
The performance was so impressive that then-Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi affectionately referred to the two young singers as Ram and Lakhan.
Khan also revealed that Atal Bihari Vajpayee, an influential Indian politician who later became Prime Minister, was so taken by their talent that he offered Khan the opportunity to move to India. Despite the offer, Khan affirmed his deep love for his country, stating he could never leave Pakistan.
This reflection on a significant moment from his youth highlights the profound impact Hamid Ali Khan has had on audiences, both in Pakistan and abroad, from a very young age.
