Rashid Mehmood is a well-known veteran actor in Pakistan renowned for his compelling performances in PTV dramas. His portrayal of negative characters and his distinctive speaking style have endeared him to fans. Throughout his career, he has starred in popular dramas such as “Shaheen,” “Kajal Ghar,” “Mirza Ghalib,” “Riyasat,” and “Mohabbat Rooth Jaye To.”

Despite facing significant health challenges, including surviving three heart attacks and experiencing partial body paralysis, Rashid Mehmood continues to reside in Lahore. Recently, he garnered attention for sharing a substantial electricity bill on social media. In an interview, he discussed the taxes imposed on his electricity bill and his consumption patterns, shedding light on the financial challenges faced by many in managing utility costs.

He recently gave another interview where he discussed his current situation following the payment of a high electricity bill. Additionally, he shared the motivations behind his protest.

Talking about it, Rashid Mehmood said, “I have turned off all the lights and my AC as well. I will now use this air conditioner in the winters because in the current scenario, we can’t afford to use the air-conditioner”. Rashid Mehmood also said that he has a hard earned money, but still he can pay his bills with his own income. He said, “the purpose of my protest was to speak on the behalf of people not because I wanted help from the government. Alhamdulillah, I have paid my bill through my money”.

Rashid Mehmood mentioned that despite using 700 units with AC, typically resulting in a bill of around twenty thousand rupees, this month he received a bill totaling twenty-nine thousand rupees. While he could manage this amount, he expressed anger over the additional charges of about sixteen thousand rupees imposed as taxes.

He emphasized that these undisclosed taxes are particularly burdensome for people with limited means. Rashid Mehmood highlighted that he leads a modest life, having earned his income through diligent work.
