Earlier this year, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) significantly streamlined the process for obtaining work permits and residency visas for private sector employees.
The Gulf nation introduced the “Work Bundle” platform, integrating services from various departments to expedite the issuance of these documents. Initially launched in Dubai, the platform will expand to other regions in the next phase.
Key entities involved in this initiative include the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security, the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, and Dubai Health.
The “Work Bundle” platform aims to facilitate private and Web 3 firms by providing a single portal for employment services. These services include renewal, cancellation, medical examinations, and fingerprinting.
One of the most notable improvements is the reduction in required steps and documents. Previously, obtaining work permits and residency visas involved 15 steps and 16 documents.
Now, it requires only 5 steps and 5 documents. This has drastically shortened the processing time from 30 working days to just 5 working days, making it much more efficient for companies and employees alike.
This initiative underscores the UAE’s commitment to enhancing business operations and attracting global talent to the region.
