KARACHI: A 3.1 magnitude earthquake struck Malir district in Karachi on Wednesday.
The National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC) confirmed that vibrations were detected in Malir, Landhi, Quaidabad, Kathore, and Gadap Town. The earthquake’s epicenter was located in New Malir Karachi with a depth of 12 kilometers.
In a similar event last year on October 16, Karachi experienced a minor earthquake measuring 3.1 on the Richter Scale, as reported by the National Seismic Monitoring Centre Islamabad. This earthquake had a depth of 15 kilometers and its epicenter was near Quaidabad in Karachi.
Tremors were felt in various areas, including Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Cattle Colony, different parts of Malir District, Quaidabad, Shah Latif Town, Sherpao Colony, Landhi, Muzaffarabad Colony, Muslimabad Colony, Steel Town, and neighboring regions.
