IHC approves PTI founder bail plea in £190m reference

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) approved Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s bail plea in the £190 million National Crime Agency (NCA) settlement reference. 

The Supreme Court issued an order to release the PTI founder on bail in the £190 million reference.

Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri reserved the verdict yesterday which was pronounced today.

The Islamabad High Court had reserved its decision after the arguments on behalf of the parties were completed.

The court delivered a brief oral verdict in open courtthe detailed verdict on the PTI founder’s bail will be issued later.

The court has ordered Imran Khan to deposit a bond of 10 lakh rupees.

It should be noted that the founder of PTI is imprisoned in Adiala Jail, he cannot be released until the sentence is suspended in the Cipher and illegal Nikah case.

PM congratulates Pakistan Army, scientists over launch of Fatah-II

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the Pakistan Army and scientists over the successful launch of Fatah-II Guided Rocket System.

The prime minister, calling the launch an outcome of untiring efforts by Pakistan Army and scientists, expressed the hope that Fatah-II would help further strengthen the defence of Pakistan.

He said the constant efforts by the Pakistan Army and scientists continued to making Pakistan’s defence impregnable.

On the other hand, Pakistan Army successfully conducted the training launch of Fatah-II Guided Rocket System, said the military’s media wing in a statement.

The rocket system, which has a range of 400 kilometres, is equipped with state-of-the-art navigation system, unique trajectory and manoeuvrable features. The missile is capable of “engaging targets with high precision and defeating any missile defence system”.

According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), today’s launch was aimed at perfecting the launch drills and procedures.

“Fatah-II is being inducted in Pakistan’s Artillery Divisions for stand-off, precision engagement of deep targets. The rocket system will significantly upgrade the reach and lethality of Pakistan Army’s conventional arsenal,” said the ISPR.

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court(SHC) has sought response from the concerned institutions in the petition against poor mobile phone and internet service in the lower courts.

In the Sindh High Court, a petition was heard against the poor mobile and internet service in the lower courts.

The petitioner submitted that the mobile network service in the entire City Court is non-existent and the internet service is also severely affected.

It was said in the petition tat the lawyer cannot even contact his questioner and the questioner cannot even contact his lawyer, people are facing severe difficulties, the questioner cannot contact his lawyer for hours.

The court issued a notice to all the mobile companies including PTA on the stand of the petitioner and adjourned the hearing till May 28.

PESHAWAR: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested an accused involved in human trafficking.

According to FIA officials, the accused Zeeshan used to get 300,000 per person to cross the border from Iran to Turkey, while the affected citizens were deported from Iran by the border security.

FIA officials said that a human trafficking report was registered against the accused. The accused appeared in the court for pre-arrest bail where the accused was arrested after the bail application was rejected.

BEIJING:.Pakistan and China agreed to sustain the growing momentum of bilateral relations in all areas of cooperation and to further deepen the iron-clad friendship.

The bilateral ties were discussed in a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Chinese Executive Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang here, senior officials from both sides were present in the meeting.

Deputy prime minister and foreign minister, who is on a four-day visit to China, expressed condolences and outrage on the Shangla attack on March 26, 2024, assured zero tolerance for perpetrators and lauded the services of the fallen Chinese workers.

The two leaders held an in-depth discussion on the various aspects of bilateral relations including China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (Phase-II), trade, economic cooperation and investment. Connectivity through Khunjerab border crossing and a simplified visa regime were also discussed.

Ishaq Dar noted the progress made by CPEC in energy and infrastructure and expressed confidence in the positive dividends under Phase-II in the fields of industry, agriculture and mineral development.

Funeral prayers of Shaheed Major Babar Niazi offered in Zhob

RAWALPINDI: The funeral prayers of Shaheed Major Babar Niazi, martyred in an intelligence-based operation against terrorists, were offered in Zhob, Balochistan.

According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) , senior military and civil officers and representatives of public and civil administration participated in the funeral prayers. The martyr will be buried at his hometown with full military honour.

The ISPR further said the Armed Forces of Pakistan stand by the nation and are determined to thwart terrorist attempts to sabotage the peace and stability of the country.

These sacrifices of our brave sons strengthen our resolve to fight against terrorism and this war will continue till elimination of the scourge from the motherland.

Earlier, a Pakistan Army officer embraced martyrdom while three terrorists were eliminated during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) conducted by the security forces in general area Sambaza, Zhob District of Balochistan.

During the conduct of operation, the Army troops effectively engaged the terrorists location, as a result of which three terrorists were killed, an Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) news release said.

The martyred soldier was identified as Major Babar Khan (age: 33 years, resident of District Mianwali) who embraced martyrdom, having fought gallantly during intense exchange of fire while leading his troops from the front.
