Reportedly, Sandra Bullock is planning a poignant gesture to honour her late partner, Bryan Randall, by scattering his ashes at sea near the island where they shared their vows.

Bryan Randall passed away at the age of 57 on August 5th, following a three-year battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). His family issued a statement regarding his passing, stating, “It is with great sadness that we share that on Aug. 5, [he] passed away peacefully after a three-year battle with ALS. Bryan chose early to keep his journey with ALS private and those of us who cared for him did our best to honour his request.”

The Daily Mail has reported that Sandra is contemplating a return to the Three Bees villa compound in the Bahamas, a place of significance for them, to scatter Bryan’s ashes in the sea. Allegedly, the couple made multiple visits to this location.

A source revealed, “The place was just so special to them both. They would take over the entire island so they could just be themselves.” This site held cherished memories, symbolizing some of their happiest moments, enjoyed with their loved ones.

The source emphasized the couple’s extended stays on the island, saying, “It holds a lot of meaning and it just makes sense for that to be where she says goodbye to him.”

Sandra and Bryan Randall had exchanged their “vows” on New Year’s Eve in 2017 at the Harbour Island resort. Although the private ceremony was witnessed by close family and friends, Sandra had previously expressed a lack of inclination towards marriage. Despite this, the event was described as a way to “kind of seal the deal.”

According to insiders, the couple, who began their relationship in 2015, regarded the island’s beach as a magical place. Photographs of Sandra and Bryan, reportedly taken on the island, have also been shared.

Bradley Cooper faced significant backlash when he appeared in the trailer for his upcoming biopic “Maestro,” where he seemed to be wearing a noticeable prosthetic nose to portray legendary composer Leonard Bernstein.

Bradley Cooper, who has taken on the roles of co-writer, producer, and director for the film, aims to depict the story of Bernstein, a renowned conductor and composer famously recognized for his work on “West Side Story.” Bernstein’s background traced back to being the child of Jewish-Ukrainian immigrants in the United States. In contrast, Cooper does not share the same ethnicity. The actor’s decision to alter his appearance with the prosthetic nose led to accusations of perpetuating offensive stereotypes through what is sometimes termed as ‘Jewface,’ a narrative that the Jewish community finds objectionable.

However, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), an international Jewish organization dedicated to combating antisemitism and prejudice, released a statement on Monday that contradicts these claims and supports Cooper in his upcoming Netflix project.

The ADL asserted, “Throughout history, Jews were often portrayed in antisemitic films and propaganda as evil caricatures with large, hooked noses. This film, which is a biopic on the legendary conductor Leonard Bernstein, is not that.”

Bernstein’s children, Jamie, Alexander, and Nina, also expressed support for Bradley Cooper’s portrayal and defended his intentions. They noted, “It breaks our hearts to see any misrepresentations or misunderstandings of [Cooper’s] efforts. It happens to be true that Leonard Bernstein had a nice, big nose. Bradley chose to use makeup to amplify his resemblance, and we’re perfectly fine with that. We’re also certain that our dad would have been fine with it as well.”

“Maestro” is set to premiere on September 2 at the Venice Film Festival and will receive limited theater screenings in late November before its release on Netflix on December 20.

Sarmad Khoosat Reveals His Thoughts On Success Of ‘Humsafar’

Renowned Pakistani actor and director Sarmad Khoosat recently unveiled his passion project, Zindagi Tamasha, earlier in August. Now, Sarmad has engaged in an interview with the Directors Guild of Pakistan, sharing insights into his career-defining moments.

Participating in a conversation with Rafay Rashdi and Misbah Khalid for a series titled “The Director’s Chair,” Sarmad delves into his directorial journey across diverse projects, highlighting how Humsafar played a pivotal role in paving the path for more ambitious undertakings like Manto.

During the interview, the Pardes actor emphasizes the significance of the path one must traverse to establish themselves as a storyteller within the local industry. He underscores the need for proper educational degrees and programs to provide aspiring directors with a foundation, explaining, “The freedom you will achieve from an educational degree is not something you would get in the practical field. Starting off in the field runs the risk of young talent wanting to live up to a certain directorial style, or to measure success based off of YouTube likes, or who makes the most money.”

When prompted about the projects closest to his heart, Sarmad singles out two: Humsafar and Manto – each for distinct reasons. He notes that both projects achieved success through vastly different avenues of comparison. While Humsafar, despite being mainstream with actors Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan, may not have been his most passionate endeavor, its success granted him the leverage to pursue more provocative projects. Sarmad states, “It is important to get that kind of validation, but what you do with that validation [matters]; I used that validation to earn the freedom to make Manto.”

Regarding Manto, Sarmad reveals that this project holds a special place in his heart. Despite reportedly earning less than half of what he garnered from his serial, he worked on Manto as an actor, director, additional screenwriter, editor, and sometimes project manager. He elaborates, “I think the project is close to my heart because I had established an emotional connection with it. So, when today I look back at it, of course, it gave me financial damage, of course, it gave me a lot of heartache [and] trauma, but it is very close to my heart and when I think of its success, of course, I think of Humsafar.”

Throughout the 30-minute discussion, the director of Zindagi Tamasha attributes his achievements to recognizing the value of believing in the narrative one aspires to convey. Concluding the interview, he remarks, “Storytellers are dreamers. They might believe that their story is very good, but that belief is very important. To be that foolish, to be a dreamer, to take that leap of faith, I feel, is very important to telling stories … and it will perhaps keep our individual voices and styles alive.”

Samiya Mumtaz Reflects On Taking Decision To Play Fatima Jinnah

Renowned actress Samiya Mumtaz recently shared her experience of taking on the role of Fatima Jinnah in a play that delves into the life and challenges of the iconic sister of Madar-e-Millat. Mumtaz’s portrayal captures the political leader’s time in Pakistan, shedding light on her substantial contributions. “I will be portraying her in her later years,” Mumtaz highlighted in an interview. “In this series, I have depicted the various facets of her life based on historical facts, whether positive or negative.”

Samiya Mumtaz went on to share her views on the current landscape of Pakistani dramas. Disheartened by the repetitive themes in TV dramas, she shifted her focus to diverse characters in the realm of digital media, one of them being her portrayal of Fatima Jinnah.

“Nowadays, our dramas primarily revolve around love, marriage, in-law relationships, and divorce. Dramatists should recognize that these are only small fragments of life. As a society, we face numerous issues, yet these subjects are seldom addressed. This is why I grew weary of TV dramas and started exploring different characters in digital media. One such character is that of Fatima Jinnah,” Mumtaz expressed.

The actress disclosed her approach to preparing for the role, which involved a meticulous understanding of portraying Jinnah in her later life. Through rigorous research, she incorporated historical accounts and anecdotes shared by those who were acquainted with the mother of the nation to infuse authenticity into her portrayal.

“I aim to encompass all the various dimensions of her personality,” Mumtaz revealed. “She was no ordinary woman. Having lived as a ‘Bombay Girl,’ she resided in a hostel during her youth. Furthermore, I will delve into her relationship dynamics with Ruttie Jinnah in the household of Muhammad Ali Jinnah. There are numerous facets to her character that the audience will witness.”

Committed to authenticity, Samiya Mumtaz even practiced walking while wearing a traditional gharara (ethnic attire) to capture the essence of Jinnah’s style. She acknowledged the weighty responsibility that accompanies depicting such an influential figure and the challenges associated with embodying her distinct mannerisms. “Upon reading the script, I felt it necessary to present every facet of her life to the public,” Mumtaz remarked.

Regarding the context of presenting this drama against the backdrop of the current political milieu, Mumtaz acknowledged the added intrigue it brings. The play delves into the political climate during Jinnah’s era, including the role of the military. Mumtaz hinted that the drama might explore lingering inquiries surrounding the nature of Jinnah’s passing.

Director Danial K Afzal provided insights into the research that underpins the play’s portrayal of this pivotal political leader. He emphasized Jinnah’s willingness to collaborate with anyone striving for Pakistan’s progress and development. Danial also drew attention to the political dynamics of the past, citing an anecdote wherein Muhammad Ali Jinnah entrusted Jawaharlal Nehru with the care of his house upon leaving Malabar, exemplifying a unique bond between the two leaders. Actress and aesthetic physician Shaista Lodhi appeared as a guest on ‘The Talk Talk Show,’ discussing her role as an aesthetic physician who conducts cosmetic medical procedures for celebrities, politicians, and the general public. Shedding light on the darker aspects of her profession, she revealed that young women and girls often seek her help after facing bullying due to their physical appearance from men.

Lodhi, known for her role in ‘Samjhota,’ disclosed that numerous young girls and women visit her clinic due to insecurity about their features, often influenced by pictures shared by their partners. She recounted instances where women were shown images by their fiancés, leading to self-doubt about their looks.

“In those pictures, they’re told that they should look like a certain woman,” Lodhi disclosed. Expressing her astonishment, she remarked, “Then I tell them they should get rid of that man first. Can you imagine? It’s such an insult for a man to tell you to look like someone else.”

Shaista Lodhi shared a distressing incident involving a patient who arrived with her husband, who humorously requested that his wife be made to resemble the actress. This evoked outrage in Lodhi, who had the urge to confront the man.

Highlighting societal dynamics, Lodhi lamented, “You can see the way women are treated in our society.” She recounted an episode where a woman endured taunts from her husband about her appearance. Despite wanting to rebuke the man, the woman remained silent, reflecting the challenges faced by many.

Shaista Lodhi emphasized that women constantly endure scrutiny and feelings of inferiority due to their looks, often subjected to bullying from in-laws regarding their skin colour and body type. She stressed that this doesn’t indicate an issue with women, but rather highlights men’s insecurities.

She further underlined that while plastic surgery is an option, it should not come at the expense of one’s self-esteem.

Regarding women seeking alterations to their features, Lodhi recounted an unsettling incident involving a woman who sought treatment to remove stretch marks. The woman had been expelled from her home by her husband due to the marks, and Lodhi was deeply shocked by this revelation.

Lodhi shared, “Three days ago, a woman came to me and said she recently gave birth, and her husband kicked her out of the house because of her stretch marks.” Expressing empathy, she attempted to console the woman, asserting that she should embrace her body as a gift from Allah and not feel isolated. The woman pleaded for help to save her marriage, to which Lodhi responded with a powerful statement, “If you believe that fixing your stretch marks could salvage your marriage, then it’s better such a union never happened!”

Lodhi’s stance against imposing unrealistic beauty standards on women was praised for its strength, as she reminded them that altering oneself for a marriage that enforces such measures is not worth it.

A harrowing narrative of abuse and exploitation has come to light as a medical panel, tasked with conducting a post-mortem examination on a 10-year-old domestic servant, Fatima Fariro, unveiled the extent of her suffering, revealing indications of severe torture and suspected sexual abuse.

The distressing incident involves a prominent Pir in Ranipur, Sindh, whose alleged involvement in the young girl’s demise has incited nationwide outrage.

The accused, Pir Asad Shah Jeelani, is linked to a well-known family in Ranipur’s Khairpur district and stands accused of subjecting his 10-year-old maid to fatal torment. The tragic case came to public attention when distressing video clips of the victim’s lifeless body, bearing visible signs of brutal mistreatment, circulated widely on social media platforms. In the video, the young girl, visibly injured and in pain, struggles to sit up in her bed before collapsing, painting a heartrending image of her endured suffering.

This disturbing footage has triggered widespread indignation across the country, underscoring the urgent requirement for justice and systemic reform to prevent the recurrence of such heinous acts.

Pakistani celebrities have joined the chorus of voices expressing their heartache over the news and demanding justice.

Nadia Jamil, a vocal advocate for human rights, conveyed her sorrow and outrage on Twitter, stating that the autopsy report of the victim, referred to as Fatima, clearly demonstrates signs of rape. The report unveiled that her bones were fractured, her organs were swollen, her body bore welts and burn marks, and her delicate scalp had suffered wounds from her hair being pulled out. Jamil’s powerful message drew attention to the critical concern of child domestic labor and the necessity to criminalize it to deter further instances of abuse.
