Cats are adept hunters, capable of catching fast-moving prey. The felines’ calculated leaps at all things moving are almost instinctual. A video of this identical behaviour is now going viral.
The undated video shows a little kitten sitting in front of a television, intently watching a football match. The cat then lunges at the football as it flies into the goal. The young cat continues to do so when the goal is replayed in slow motion.
A prominent cat content account called ‘cats with jobs’ (@CatWorkers) shared a 19-second video of this charming behaviour on Twitter. This video has been seen over 6.2 million times.

I love soccer, but I would watch every World Cup game if this kitten was also “playing”

Is there more TV footage like this? I might start watching football if there is. #CatsOfTwitter https://t.co/g4DxceBkMf

A Twitter user commented on the video, asking, “Is there more TV footage like this? I might start watching football if there is. #CatsOfTwitter”. “The best goalie in the world 🤗,” another individual said.
Many cat owners have remarked that similar antics by cats stop being adorable until they cause property damage. A Twitter user echoed this sentiment, writing, “it’s all fun and games until you notice the scratch marks on the screen.” “Won’t be long before that tv gets knocked off the stand too. 😂 Cat parent’s know,” said another.
Earlier this year, a video of a dog excitedly licking a giant TV screen while watching a cooking show about meat preparations went viral.
