OnePlus 10T: Unveiled with faster chip & lower cost

OnePlus 10T
  • OnePlus 10T is the second generation of the popular T-brand phone.
  • It has a 6.7-inch OLED screen and an upgraded Snapdragon 815 processor.
  • Storage options are 128GB/256GB UFS 3.1 and 8 to 16GB RAM.

Only a few months after the OnePlus 10 Pro, the OnePlus 10T has just made its global debut, which is far earlier than anticipated for a T-model phone.

The phone’s price is lower than the OnePlus 10 Pro, as expected, but the cameras and battery are also slightly worse.

Design

The appearance is the same as that of the standard OnePlus 10.

The display parameters are nearly the same. The 6.7-inch OLED screen on the OnePlus 10T features the same 1080p resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, but it does not include the more sophisticated LTPO2 for battery conservation.

One billion colors, HDR10+ content, and IP68 water resistance are all still supported.

Storage and internals

The chipset of the OnePlus 10T is the biggest improvement. It is powered by the upgraded Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, which is a bit faster than the original SD8G1 in terms of CPU and GPU performance. This is coupled with 128GB/256GB UFS 3.1 and 8 to 16GB RAM.

The phone starts up with Oxygen OS 12.1 on top of Android 12 out of the box.

Cameras

The camera division accounts for the majority of the cost savings. The main 50MP camera now has a smaller sensor and fewer functions than before, but the ultrawide camera has undergone the biggest change, going from a 50MP sensor to an 8MP one. There is now simply a 2MP macro camera in place of the telephoto sensor.

Additionally, the selfie camera’s resolution was decreased from 32MP to 16MP.

Pricing and Battery

The OnePlus 10T’s battery capacity has been marginally reduced to 4,800 mAh (from 5,000), but fast charging has been increased to an astounding 150W. (up from 80W). The phone even has a charging cable, which we believe to be the same as the one included with the Realme GT Neo 3 150W model.

The OnePlus 10T has a starting price of €699 and will come in Moonstone Black and Jade Green color variants.

Proton announces price hike; includes Pakistan’s cheapest sedan

Proton announces price hike
  • Al-Haj Automotive has announced a significant price increase for the Proton Saga and X70.
  • Pakistan’s cheapest sedan’s base model now costs 2.82 million.
  • Delivery delays as a result of the problem are increasingly affecting demand for cars.

Due to the recent local currency crash, Al-Haj Automotive has announced a significant price increase for the Proton Saga and X70. Prior to this, Proton had tripled the cost of both cars in 2022.

Pakistan’s cheapest sedan’s base model now costs 2.82 million, while the top-end model will soon be offered for around Rs. 3.15 million.

It is important to note that the Pakistani Rupee (PKR) has lost around 30% of its value against the US dollar since April, making it more difficult for industries like the auto sector, which depend on imports, to maintain their product prices.

Al-Haj Proton has raised the cost of its automobiles as a result of the decline, rising steel and shipping costs. It is important to note that the rupee has appreciated significantly over the past two days after closing at 226.15 against the US dollar on August 4.

Effective immediately, the new prices of all proton cars are as follows:

Model Old Price (Rs.) Revised Price (Rs.) Increase (Rs.)
Saga Standard Manual 2,579,000 2,824,000 245,000
Saga Standard Automatic 2,729,000 2,999,000 270,000
Saga ACE Automatic 2,849,000 3,149,000 300,000
X70 Executive AWD 6,050,000 6,850,000 800,000
X70 Premium FWD 6,400,000 7,300,000 900,000

Across-the-Board Issue

In an analyst conference earlier this week, Honda Atlas Cars Limited (HACL) outlined potential future developments. Due to supply-chain issues, the company predicted a sales decrease of up to 35%.

In addition, due to a delay in the letter of credit (LC) approval for the CKD imports, HACL will observe non-production days along with Toyota Indus Motor Company (IMC), Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC), Kia Luck Motor Corporation (KLMC), etc.

Delivery delays that have lasted for several months as a result of the problem are increasingly affecting demand for cars as well. The industry is anticipated to experience a considerable reduction in car sales in the near future as a result of these problems.

Finance minister launches “EMLAAK Financials”

EMLAAK Financials

KARACHI: Finance Minister Miftah Ismail on Friday inaugurated “Emlaak Financials”, the first digital aggregator platform for mutual funds in Pakistan’s capital market landscape, a statement said.

This platform has been successfully implemented as a digital distribution channel initially for Mutual Funds and later on for other asset classes also.

While officiating the event, the finance minister said that Emlaak Financials is a very important and timely initiative by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and very well executed by the Central Depository Company (CDC).

“It is very important for our economy that we should introduce such novel concepts which will promote the investment culture in Pakistan,” he added.

It will provide an easy and informative platform to the investors thus enabling them to make wise investment decisions while giving them the convenience to open their mutual fund accounts digitally from anywhere without having to visit the brick and mortar offices of Asset Management Companies, Ismail said.

SECP Chairman Aamir Khan termed it a very important milestone for the Mutual Funds Industry as it embarks on this consolidated digital distribution channel launched for the first time in Pakistan.

“We, at the SECP, are strong proponents of re-engineering processes for promoting efficiency and transparency through digitalisation and will continue to support and encourage all such initiatives by providing all the required regulatory assistance in this regard,” he added.

CDC Board of Directors’ Chairman Moin Fudda welcomed the finance minister and others guests after which Mutual Funds Association of Pakistan (Mufap) Chief Executive Officer Mashmooma Majeed addressed the audience.

CDC Chief Executive Officer Badiuddin Akber said that Emlaak Financials has been envisioned to pave the way for the growth of the Mutual Fund Industry and promote the savings culture in Pakistan at the grass root level.

“The CDC is committed towards providing innovative tech-based platforms to Capital Market entities through which they can leverage CDC’s technological edge to enhance their investor outreach in a convenient, informative and interactive manner,” he added.

The Pilot project for Emlaak was initially launched in 2021 for the Sahulat account opening via the platform, after which CDC has continued to abide by its commitment to collaborate with the Mutual Fund Industry for enhancing the platform.

The full-fledged account opening feature has now been launched via this online investment portal which is the first of its kind in Pakistan allowing multiple funds from different AMCs to be offered to investors through a single platform.

SECP Director Khalda Habib, representatives of the Asset Management Industry and other industry representatives also attended the event.

After launching the Emlaak pilot project in 2021 to allow Sahulat accounts to be opened through the platform, CDC has remained true to its promise to work with the mutual fund sector to improve the platform.

This online investing portal, the first of its type in Pakistan, has now released the full-fledged account opening feature, enabling investors to access a variety of funds from various asset management companies (AMCs) through a single platform.

Speaking at the event, the minister said, “Emlaak Financials is a very significant and timely initiative by SECP (Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan), and very successfully performed by CDC. It has been deployed as a digital aggregator of mutual funds.”

“It is crucial for the health of our economy that we implement such cutting-edge ideas that will advance Pakistan’s investment culture and offer investors a convenient way to open mutual fund accounts online from anywhere without having to go to an Asset Management Company’s physical location. This will allow investors to make informed investment decisions.”

According to SECP Chairman Aamir Khan, “The mutual fund sector is embarking on this integrated digital distribution channel introduced for the first time in Pakistan. It is truly a very important milestone.”

“At SECP, we firmly believe that processes should be re-engineered to increase efficiency and transparency through digitalization. We will continue to support and promote such projects by offering the necessary regulatory help in this regard.”

“Emlaak Financials has been envisioned to pave the path for the growth of the Mutual Fund Industry and promote the savings culture in Pakistan at the grass-roots level,” CDC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Badiuddin Akber remarked when describing the platform’s goals.

“CDC is dedicated to provide capital market entities cutting-edge tech-based platforms so they may take advantage of CDC’s technology edge to improve their investor outreach in a practical, educational, and engaging way.”

Khalda Habib, director of the SECP, as well as asset management and other business executives, also attended the occasion.

Lower imports & Oil drop; Rupee close week with big profits

Lower imports & Oil drop
  • The PKR increased today in the interbank market by Rs.2.11, or 0.94 percent, to settle at Rs. 224.04.
  • The local currency reached an intraday high of Rs. 221.25 versus the US dollar on Friday.
  • Oil prices fell on Friday and are now close to their lowest levels since February 2022.

Today’s intraday trading saw significant gains for the Pakistani Rupee (PKR) against the US Dollar (USD), continuing its upward trend.

It increased today in the interbank market by Rs. 2.11, or 0.94 percent, to settle at Rs. 224.04.

During today’s open market session, the local currency reached an intraday high of Rs. 221.25 versus the US dollar.

As the nation carefully recovers from the currency crisis amid renewed hope for the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) bailout program, the rupee finished in the green for the sixth straight day on Friday.

The lender’s remarks, weak importer demand for the dollar, and exporters selling the USD all contributed to the support of the PKR.

In addition, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics reports that overall imports decreased to $4.9 billion in July 2022 from $7.9 billion the previous month.

Due to restrictions on some imports and a decline in petroleum imports, imports were down.

On August 3, the local currency saw its largest absolute gain versus the US dollar (PKR 9.59; 4.19 percent).

Overall, the PKR has decreased by 21.21 percent year-to-date (CYTD). Since CY21’s peak on May 14, it has been down 32.03 percent.

The rupee had a precipitous decline in July, hitting a record low of 239,94 on July 28. But since July 29, it has changed course, and its value has increased dramatically.

Oil prices fell on Friday and are now close to their lowest levels since February 2022 as the market jitters over a potential recession and a dip in gasoline demand persisted.

While US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) plummeted and went down by 0.46 percent to settle at $88.13 per barrel, Brent oil was down by 0.25 percent at $93.88 per barrel.

Today’s interbank market saw significant increases in the PKR relative to the other major currencies. It increased in value versus the Saudi Riyal (SAR), the UAE Dirham (AED), the Australian Dollar (AUD), the Canadian Dollar (CAD), and the Pound Sterling by 56 paisas, 57 paisas, Rs. 1.54, Rs. 1.92, and Rs. 2.47, respectively (GBP).

Moreover, in today’s interbank foreign exchange market, it increased by Rs. 1.04 in relation to the Euro (EUR).

KARACHI: The Pakistani rupee continued its upward momentum to hit Rs224.04 against the dollar on Friday, as positive sentiments prevailed in the market over the likely revival of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme.

The local unit gained Rs2.11 to close at Rs224.04 to the dollar from Thursday’s closing of Rs226.15 in the interbank foreign exchange market.
