PSL 2021: Peshawar Zalmi Wins The Toss, Elects To Field Against Karachi Kings

PSL 2021: Peshawar Zalmi Wins The Toss, Elects To Field Against Karachi Kings

Peshawar Zalmi elected to field first after winning the toss against Karachi Kings in match 24 of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) sixth edition.

Karachi will try hard to avoid being pushed to the edge of elimination in today’s game.

Karachi, led by Imad Wasim, didn’t enjoy a good start in Abu Dhabi ever since the league resumed, having lost both games, first against Multan Sultans and then against the Islamabad United on Monday night.

[amazonad category=”Electronics”]

They currently have attained six points from seven games after winning three and losing four matches. A defeat tonight could bring them dangerously close to elimination from the league, as Multan also with six points from seven games, are finding their form.

Peshawar is also not short of being inconsistent this season, as they’ve won four out of eight games played up till now. Three of these games were in Abu Dhabi where Peshawar former champions were beaten twice.

Dubai Tourism: Officials seek new source markets to drive tourism recovery

Dubai tourism

Dubai Tourism chief executive, Issam Kazim, said he hopes that new markets can help make up for the loss of visitors from key outbound markets.

Last year, Dubai welcomed 5.5 million overseas visitors, compared to 16.7 million arrivals in 2019.

Due to the latest outbreak of Covid-19 in India, visitors from the traditionally top source market are largely banned from the United Arab Emirates.

Kazim said visitor numbers from fresher markets in Europe, Africa, and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) were performing well.

[amazonad category=”Auto”]

“All of these markets will start to add up and hopefully fill the gaps and give us a much stronger foundation to build a confident rebound going forward,” he explained.

UAE reopened its borders to international visitors last July and was a favorite holiday spot over the New Year.

There are hopes for a recovery in the tourism sector over the coming months with the postponed Expo 2020 also set to start in October.

Recipe: How To Make Delicious Saviyaan – Sheer khorma

Recipe: How To Make Delicious Saviyaan - Sheer khorma

Sheer khorma is a decadent version of saviyaan loaded with thick, creamy milk and khoya; rich with dried fruits and nuts such as dates, raisins, coconut, pistachios, and almonds; and delicately flavored with cardamom, saffron, and rose water.

The thickness, sweetness, and serving temperature of sheer khorma chilled or hot, thick or not is a personal preference.

[amazonad category=”Auto”]

Ingredients:
1 cup vermicelli, crushed
1-liter full cream milk
1 can condensed milk
1/2 cup khoya, crumbled
1-2 pods green cardamom, crushed
1 pinch saffron strands, soaked
1 teaspoon rose water
½ cup almonds, soaked, skinned, and slivered
½ cup pistachios, soaked, skinned, and slivered
¼ cup golden raisins
1 cup dried coconut flakes
6-7 dried dates, deseeded, soaked, and slivered
4 tablespoons sugar, or to taste
Desi ghee as needed

Method:

In a saucepan, put one crushed cardamom into milk and bring to boil, then lower the flame and let it keep cooking for another 10 to 20 minutes while the rest of the procedure is underway. In a frying pan, lightly toast the nuts, raisins, coconut, and dates distinctly till they release their cologne and their oils. Add the toasted dates to the boiling milk to soften them further.

Now heat some ghee and stir-fry crushed cardamom in it. Add the vermicelli and stir-fry on medium flame till it darkens slightly. Add this carefully into the hot milk, avoiding any splatters.

Add the sugar and condensed milk and stir it into the cooking milk till it dissolves. Add the rose water, saffron strands, and khoya, stir and turn off the flame. Stir in the toasted nuts, cover the lid for a few minutes to let these ingredients emulsify in the steam, and then serve piping hot or chilled as desired.

‘Kimchi’ The New Achaar? Here’s A Simple Recipe To Try

'Kimchi' The New Achaar? Here's A Simple Recipe To Try

Kimchi to Koreans recipe is what Achaar (Pickel) is to Pakistanis; a staple item accompanying almost all main course dishes.

The process of making kimchi is very simple; you have a base vegetable set for the type of kimchi you want to make, the type of salt (coarse salt), and the spices you would like to add as flavor to your kimchi.

Cabbage Kimchi and Radish Kimchi:
Cabbage Kimchi is seen as the most widely consumed kimchi across the fore. The recipe uses Napa cabbage as its primary vegetable to be picked and salted.
Radishes are a bonus, and carrots add to the texture and color of the concoction.

[amazonad category=”Electronics”]

Ingredients:
1 Large Napa cabbage and 1 radish
Optional 1 carrot (julienned)
1 cup of coarse sea salt
5 cups water
4 tablespoons of fish sauce
Korean chili flakes (or cayenne pepper) – according to taste
5-7 green onions
½ cup of white rice
3 tablespoons of garlic
1 tablespoon of ginger
1 tablespoon of sesame seeds
1 tablespoon of sugar

Method:

Cut the cabbage lengthwise and chop it according to your preference. Note that kimchi can, later on, be cut using scissors.

Mix half a cup of salt with 2 cups of water and douse the cabbage, radish, and carrot in until it becomes comparatively soft. Sprinkle and coat the rest of the salt on the cabbage to cover all sides, and then pour the rest of the water in. Weigh the cabbage down and let it sit in the salt solution for 2- 4 hours.

Once done, strain and rinse the vegetables under cold water three times. Save a spoon or two of the salt solution for later use.

For the spice paste:
Take ½ cup of boiled rice, add the chopped/minced garlic, ginger, sesame seeds, sugar, and chili flakes (or cayenne pepper)
Add the wet ingredients: Fish Sauce, and if needed, saltwater. The added step depends entirely on the viscosity you prefer.

Tip: In case you do not have fish sauce, soy sauce is a good alternative.
Blend them up and toss them on your salted cabbages.

Prep and Preservation: Mix in the paste with the salted vegetables thoroughly. Pack the mixture now into a jar, press it firmly to let the brine cover or coat the top of the mixture. Let the jar sit in the fridge for a day or two to intensify the flavor!
Happy kimchi making!

4 bell peppers

2 cups cooked rice of choice

1 cup textured soy protein or chickpeas

1/2 cup light coconut milk

1/2 cup chopped bell peppers

4 tbsp crushed tomatoes

1 medium-sized onion, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 tbsp Braggs amigos

1 tbsp oil (e.g. sesame oil or coconut oil)

1 tbsp peanut butter

1/2 tbsp curry powder

1/4 tsp smoked paprika

Salt and pepper to taste vegan cheese sauce (or your favorite vegan cheese) to taste chopped chives

Method:

You will need 2 cups of cooked rice for this recipe. Soak 1 cup of textured soy protein (TVP) in a bowl with 1 cup of hot water (or vegetable broth) and set aside for 5-10 minutes (skip this step if you are going to use chickpeas). They will begin to fluff and absorb all the liquid

Heat oil in a skillet, add the chopped onion, minced garlic, the textured soy protein, and fry for 4-5 minutes over medium heat. Add the chopped 1/2 cup bell peppers, crushed tomatoes, Braggs, peanut butter, spices (curry, smoked paprika), salt/pepper to taste, and coconut milk to the skillet and let simmer for about 5 minutes on low-medium heat. Stir occasionally.

Fill the 4 peppers with the rice/veggie mixture, add your favorite vegan cheese to taste, or make the easy vegan cheese sauce and cook in the oven at 190 degrees C (about 375 degrees F) for about 30-45 minutes. You will probably have some leftovers from the rice/veggie mixture. Enjoy!

Nokia X20 and Nokia X10 launched in Pakistan with blazing fast 5G

Nokia X20

The all-new Nokia X-series, featuring Nokia X20 and Nokia X10, just launched in Pakistan with speedy 5G and a promise of three years of software upgrades.

Nokia X10

Nokia X10 features a standard Nokia build — donut-style camera housing and thick bezel with Nokia’s branding stamped on it.

The new smartphone has a 6.67” IPS LCD with a Full HD resolution but a high touch sampling refresh rate is not to be found here.

The X10 is toughened with Gorilla Glass 3. The on-screen camera is 8MP.

The frame is plastic and contains a side-facing thumbprint reader, a dedicated button for the Google Assistant, and a 3.5mm audio jack. You can pick from Forest and Snow colors. On the back of the phone, you’d find a quad-camera co-engineered with ZEISS — a 48MP wide lens, a 5MP ultra-wide lens, and two 2MP depth and macro sensors.

The Nokia X10 packs a Snapdragon 480 chipset combined with 128GB/64GB of storage, 6/4GB of memory, and powered by pure Android11 with a 4470 mAh battery that is capable of fast charging at 18W.

[amazonad category=”Mobile”]

Nokia X20

Nokia X20 has the same body, chip, battery, and display as the X10, except it’s available in Midnight Sun and Nordic Blue colors. Its screen is protected with Gorilla Glass 5, but it shares the dimensions and specifications of the X10.

The camera setup is where you’d find the difference. X20 has a 64MP sensor instead of 48MP. The 5MP ultrawide and the 2MP macro sensor are the same as on X10.

The chipset and battery are brought over from X10. However, X20 pairs them with 128GB of storage and 6GB/8GB of memory.

Pakistan Stock Exchange remains volatile on profit-booking

PSX

KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) started the day in the green zone and moved both ways throughout the day where volatility was witnessed in most of the stocks, dealers said on Tuesday.

An analyst at Arif Habib Limited said the market remained range-bound on account of profit-booking, particularly in refinery, steel, cement and E&P sectors.

“[The] technology sector failed to bounce back in the past sessions and similar downtrend was witnessed today. E&P sector saw prominence of Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDC) on the back of anticipated dividend payout, whereas the fertiliser sector remained under pressure after less-than-anticipated takeaways from the recently announced budget.”

Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) KSE-100 shares index sheds 0.19 per cent, or 93.52 points, to close at 48,632.56 points. The KSE-30 shares index sheds 0.11 per cent, or 22.41 points, to close at 19,625.02 points.

As many as 403 scrips were active, of which 143 advanced, 237 declined and 23 remained unchanged. The ready market volumes stood at 1.22 billion shares, compared with the turnover of 1.12 billion shares in the last trading session.

Ahsan Mehanti at Arif Habib Corp said the stocks closed bearish in the post-budget consolidation session, as investors weighed $27.488 billion trade deficit and concerns over the likely surge in local petroleum prices.

“[The] oil and cement stocks outperformed on surging global crude oil prices and Rs560 billion record development spending commitments in the Punjab Budget FY22. However, weak global equities and investors’ concerns over [the] falling rupee played a catalytic role in the bearish close.”

Maaz Mulla at JS Global Capital said the KSE-100 index stayed sideways, making a low and high of -215 and +115 points, respectively.

“K-Electric led the volume board, as media chatter suggested that the National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC) recently severed additional supply of electricity to Karachi Electric (KE) due to non-payment.”

The Southern Region cement manufacturers have announced to increase prices by Rs20/bag and consequently, the cement sector gained during the day.

From the refinery sector, Attock Refinery Limited (ATRL), down 5.1 per cent, National Refinery Limited (NRL), down 3.6 per cent and Pakistan Refinery Limited (PRL), down 2.7 per cent, lost value to close in the red zone.

Meanwhile, the government allowed the resumption of business activities in the province for six days a week, amid declining Covid cases.

“Going forward, we expect the market to remain bullish on the back of economic and political stability,” an analyst at Pearl Securities said.

The companies that reflected the highest gains included Wyeth Pakistan, up Rs39.97 to close at Rs2,196.81/share; and Indus Motor Company, up Rs27.2 to close at Rs1,346.23/share.

The companies, which reflected the most losses included Nestle Pakistan, down Rs68.99 to close at Rs5,730.01/share; and Sanofi Aventis, down Rs23 to end at Rs955/share.

Highest volumes were witnessed in K-Electric with a turnover of 312.97 million shares. The scrip gained 45 paisas to close at Rs4.69 share; followed by WorldCall Telecom with a turnover of 147.62 million shares, as it sheds 26 paisas to close at Rs3.97/share. Byco Petroleum was the third with a turnover of 129.35 million shares, as it gained 19 paisas to finish at Rs13.02.

Cyberpunk 2077 is finally back on PlayStation Store but not to buy

Cyberpunk 2077

After being removed from the PlayStation store for months, Cyberpunk 2077 has finally returned but not to buy.

Following the controversial release of Cyberpunk 2077, Sony, in an unprecedented move, delisted the game from the PlayStation Store, meaning it was no longer available to purchase a digital copy of it for the PlayStation 4 or 5.

While CD Projekt has since addressed many of the bugs and glitches that once plagued Cyberpunk 2077, there has been no word from Sony about allowing the game back on the PS Store. After six months, the wait may finally be almost over.

Forbes writer Paul Tassi recently spotted a Cyberpunk 2077 listing on the PlayStation 5 storefront. However, there is no option to purchase it; it can only be added to your wish list.

According to IGN, which has confirmed Tassi’s findings, it is possible to download it if you had already purchased the digital version before its removal, after which it is updated to the most recent version.

The listing can be spotted on the Malaysian PS Store website, which also states that a release date has yet to be determined.

While the bugs and glitches at the time of the game’s release certainly hurt the company’s reputation, the game still went on to become a major financial success, managing to surpass 10 million digital sales around a month after its December launch.
