Government working on introducing an electronic voting machine: Fawad Chaudhry

Fawad Chaudhry tweet

Newly-appointed Interior Minister Fawad Chaudhry has informed that the government is working on introducing an electronic voting machine to grant overseas Pakistanis their voting rights.

While addressing a media briefing on Tuesday, Fawad said Prime Minister Imran Khan is very keen on electoral reforms in the country.

He further said, “Besides, manufacturing EVM in Pakistan, two machines have been imported from abroad.”

The Interior Minister further added, “The cabinet discussed the need for a countrywide centralized database about supply and demand of edible items in the country to avert any kind of shortage in this regard.”

Chaudhry Fawad said the cabinet allowed transportation of containers pertaining to the United Nations Children’s Fund from Karachi to Kabul at UNICEF’s request.

He also informed that the cabinet approved the appointment of Zaheer Abbas Khokhar as chairman of Pakistan Bait-ul-Maal.

Answering a question, Chaudhary Fawad Hussain said the government has accomplished its commitment of tabling a resolution condemning the blasphemous acts against the Holy Prophet (SAWW).

He said we should not forget the great sacrifices rendered by the policemen to maintain law and order in the country during the protests carried by the outlawed Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP).

Earlier, Chaudhry had said that the operation against the proscribed religious party was originated after the miscreants launched an attack on police officers in Lahore.

Following the chaos created by TLP supporters in Lahore, Fawad Chaudhry said, “The state did not even yield to armed terrorist group Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan (TLP).”

“They kidnapped our Police and Rangers personnel following which we led an operation against them,” Chaudhry added.

“The Prime Minister is Aashiq e Rasool (SAWW) and he raised the objections over blasphemy on each available forum, the minister added further.

TLP Ends Sit-Ins Across Pakistan; Party Workers Directed To Disperse

Lahore: Bail Granted To 32 Workers Of Banned Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan

The outlawed Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) has announced to end its demonstrations across the country, which began after Chief Saad Hussain Rizvi’s arrest from Lahore.

The banned TLP Majlis-e-Shura member Maulana Ghulam Abbas announced ending the sit-ins and asked the protesters to disperse peacefully.

Talks between the government and TLP remained successful, announced Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed on Tuesday after the National Assembly (NA) session took place and presented a resolution regarding the expulsion of the French envoy.

Sheikh Rasheed in his video statement said, “The government would present a resolution in the National Assembly to expel the French envoy and withdraw cases against members of the outlawed TLP.”

Government Bans TLP After Violent Clashes Across Pakistan

Four police officers were martyred and over 600 were injured in clashes all over Pakistan last week.

The government said it had arrested Saad Rizvi as talks between both sides broke down after it emerged the religiopolitical party was planning on marching to Islamabad to hold a sit-in protest.

The TLP has demanded the expulsion of the French ambassador from Pakistan over French President Emmanuel Macron’s support for blasphemous sketches of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

The interior ministry then moved to ban the TLP under the anti-terrorism law last week.

Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed had said the decision was taken at the Punjab government’s request.

Ullema Delegation Calls On TLP Chief, Urge To End Protest

A delegation of religious scholars led by Chairman Punjab Quran Board Sahibzada Hamid Raza called on Saad Rizvi, leader of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) at Kot Lakhpat Jail.

According to the report, a delegation of Ulema led by Sahibzada Hamid Raza urged Saad Rizvi to end the protest.

The delegation included Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Sarwat Ejaz Qadri, Mian Jalil Sharqpuri, and Sahibzada Abul Khair Zabir, and others.

The scholars said that the chaos and arson had damaged their own country and an atmosphere of peace and order should be maintained in the country. The delegation also asked Saad Rizvi to issue a video message and asked protestors to end the protest.

The Ulema delegation said that the protesters should be requested to end the protest and the sit-in in Lahore should also be ended.

Politicians Lambast At Abbasi Over His foul language, threats against Speaker NA

Khaqan Abbasi argument with Speaker NA

In an unfavourable turn of events during the National Assembly (NA) session Tuesday, a heated exchange took place amidst the session between PML-N’s Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and speaker NA Asad Qaiser.

The NA debated over the expulsion of the French ambassador over the issue of blasphemous caricatures.

The government has tabled the resolution regarding the expulsion of the French envoy over the issue of blasphemous caricatures.

Abbasi had approached the Speaker’s stage to have a word with him when all of a sudden he was heard saying: “Have you no shame?”

“Hold your tongue,” said the Speaker in response. To which Abbasi replied: “You always speak such things and adopt such a behaviour.”

However, as things intensified, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi added: “I will take off my shoe and hit you.”

“I too will do such a thing then. Please stay within your limits,” Speaker Asad Qaiser said to Abbasi.

The Speaker told the former premier to just proceed and speak about what he had set out to address.

Footage doing rounds all over social media showed that shortly after the speaker’s announcement, Abbasi approached Qaiser’s rostrum violently.

However, it is not clear what sparked his anger.

After the incident took place, several politicians jumped in to discuss the fiery matter and condemned the foul language used by Abbasi at the Parliament House.

“Strongly condemn Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s use of foul language and threats against the Speaker National Assembly in the house. Disgusting behaviour by a former PM. Obviously was unfit for the office that accidentally fell in his lap,” tweeted Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood.

Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar schools Abbasi saying, “The speaker’s reputation is not being tarnished by his insulting speech, but his own reputation has been disgraced.”

SAPM Shahbaz Gill took to Twitter and lambasted Abbasi over being ill-mannered.

On the other hand, Speaker Asad Qaiser later adjourned the proceedings of the house for Friday, April 23 and directed the members from both sides to devise a joint strategy on the resolution.

UAE: Residents Likely To Get A five-day Eid-Al-Fitr Break

EID Holidays UAE

The Muslims residing in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) began to observe the holy month of Ramadan from Tuesday, April 13.

According to the UAE’s official holiday calendar, residents of UAE will get Eid-Al-Fitr holidays from 29th of Ramadan to 3rd of Shawaal, the 10th month of the Islamic calendar.

If Ramadan lasts 29 days, the residents will have a four-day break from May 11 to May 14.

But if Ramadan lasts 30 days, employees in the UAE will get a five-day break from May 11 to May 15.

Ramadan is the 9th month of the Islamic calendar and it is based on lunar cycles. Hence, its dates change accordingly. An Islamic month is 29 to 30 days long.

Muslims celebrate Eid-Al-Fitr at the end of Ramadan.

Earlier, the worshippers in UAE offered the first Taraweeh before the first Roza.

Taraweeh prayers are the special prayers Muslims offer during the whole month of Ramadan. They recite Holy Quran in Taraweeh prayer. The prayer consists of 20 rakaats and is offered with Isha prayers.

Ramadan 2020 was full of tests, as people were not allowed to gather in large congregations. However, they will enjoy offering special prayers together this year, with safety measures.

Dr. Seif Al Dhaheri, the spokesperson for the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA), had earlier announced that Taraweeh prayers will be offered in Mosques in the UAE. Taraweeh prayer and Isha prayer have been covered at 30 minutes.
